6th Asia-Oceania OFS-YouFra Congress: “Go and Repair My Church!”

The 6th Asia-Oceania OFS-YouFra Congress is taking place from October 23–29, 2025, in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, under the motto “Go and Repair My Church!”

The Congress gathers around 70 participants from across the region and marks the first such event since the 5th Congress in Bali, Indonesia (2017), following a long pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eight of the nine canonically established national fraternities and six of the nine emerging fraternities or presences of the Secular Franciscan Order are represented.

Among the attendees are Tibor Kauser, OFS General Minister, and General Spiritual Assistants Fr. Pedro Zitha, OFM, and Fr. Stefan Acatrinei, OFM Conv. As disciples of St. Francis of Assisi, participants celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures, deepening their secular Franciscan vocation, strengthening fraternal bonds, and renewing their commitment to serve the Church.

A special commemoration is held during the opening Mass in honour of Lucy Almiranez, National Minister of OFS Philippines, who was scheduled to give a presentation on vocation promotion but passed away just five days before the Congress. Her faith, leadership, and joyful service are remembered with gratitude and love.

The Congress logo beautifully reflects Franciscan spirituality and mission, featuring the Holy Spirit, young St. Francis, Mount Kinabalu, the Sigah headgear, the Cross, and a blue wave — symbols of unity, renewal, cultural respect, and the shared call to live and proclaim the Gospel with joy, love, and ecological care.
